Empowering Students: Scratch Game Development at Basisschool De Oude Vaart
Over an exciting 8-week period, students at Basisschool De Oude Vaart in Terneuzen embarked on a creative journey into the world of game development. Guided by Albert Epping from Coderoadshow, the workshops introduced young minds from Groups 5 & 6 and Groups 7 & 8 to the fundamentals of game design using Scratch, a beginner-friendly programming platform.
Albert Epping, with his expertise and passion for technology, led the students through the building blocks of game development. Week by week, the students brainstormed ideas, designed interactive games, and brought their concepts to life on the screen. They were encouraged to think critically, collaborate, and, most importantly, have fun while learning. Watching their creativity flourish over time was truly inspiring.
These workshops wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of Joyce Wilmink and her dedicated team at the school. Their efforts in organizing and ensuring the smooth execution of the sessions played a crucial role. Their enthusiasm created an environment where students could explore their creativity and problem-solving skills with confidence.
The Scratch Game Development Workshops provided much more than just technical knowledge—they helped students build confidence, develop logical thinking, and understand the value of teamwork. Experiences like these are essential in nurturing the next generation of innovators and creators.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative. Over these incredible 8 weeks, young learners were empowered to unlock the endless possibilities of their imagination, proving that the future is indeed bright.
